San Francisco Superbowl Pick Leads League to Sustainable Future
As Cali girls having grown up in LA without an NFL team, we adopted the Chargers and the 49ers as our uncles early on (sorry Raiders but we do not subscribe to your nation). And California representation combined with the sibling rivalry of the coaches that will be facing off from either side of the field in the Big Easy just makes the countdown to Superbowl Sunday that much sweeter!
There is one more big plus that our 49ers have over all of the rest, and that is their new stadium currently under construction as we speak. For this franchise holds dear our same ideals, that of building a sustainable future.
The new stadium located in Santa Clara is being built with sustainable energy sources provided by Founding Partner NRG Energy. This will include many solar panel sources such as a solar canopy, solar covered bridges and solar panels over the stadium. These solar panels will generate enough power annually to completely offset the power used at the stadium during home games. This will make it the first ever professional sports venue in California to accomplish net zero energy performance.
The stadium is also the first professional football stadium that is looking to meet the LEED certification which is the internationally recognized standard of green building sustainability. It features bicycle parking, public transit access, water conservation plumbing fixtures, recycled materials and a walking path from the San Tomas Creek trail.
We are so proud and excited to root for a team that will not only lead Cali back to the pinnacle of the NFL but bring sustainable solutions to the forefront of professional football franchises and beyond!
Go Niners!!!
